I've tried a number of different notebook coolers on my computer but recently my notebook kept shutting down if I left it on longer than 20 minutes. I tried cleaning the dust out of the fans and it was still happening. I thought that I would have to spend hundreds of dollars on a repair. I was at Big Lots store and saw this product and noticed it had the option in it's fans of airflow downward or upward. I had a theory that if I had this device,which is arranged a bit different than others like it facing with the air flowing upward into the vent would keep an even airflow and keep the notebook from overheating. I tested it as soon as I got home and for the first time in weeks the computer stayed on for 50 minutes and the screensaver came on without the entire unit shutting of. As of this writing I've had it for nearly a week and have had zero shutdowns since. This is an excellent product for those on a budget and on their last leg with overheating notebook computers that start shutting down and locking up. And it will save you a lot of repair money in the long run!
