I've been using the Laptop Desk products for years since they first came out, and have had what I consider very good experiences with them considering the rough way I've handled them at times. They've suited my needs perfectly and held up pretty well to my somewhat extreme use (I've carried my relatively heavy notebooks around on them regularly, similar to the manufacturer's ad bowling ball demo photo, for instance). They're nice and compact when folded for stashing in my laptop bag, and just the right size for supporting my notebook and mouse in use. (Tip for mouse users: slide the computer to the left and use a flat 3M-style pad as your mousing surface, and there's just the right amount of room for comfortable cursor control.) I did manage to break my first black version 1.0 at the hinges after about 2 1/2 years by leaving it in my car in freezing temperatures all day then bringing it in and snapping it open a bit too aggressively, but that was well outside its usage specifications. Even so, and even well past warranty expiration, customer service helped me out with a one-time free replacement of the same type. That one also served me well for ~2 1/2 years before the plastic around the hinges started to weaken from my 'bowling ball' carrying, and I decided to retire it. I'm now about a year into my first version 2.0 (purchased), and have revised my carrying method, so I'm expecting good wear life along with the excellent utilitarian design, and have also bought one for my girlfriend, who's making good use of it. I highly recommend the Laptop Desks - just don't make a habit of doing the 'bowling ball carry' and you'll find it to be a great product.
