I have purchased a few fans and found that they worked, but didn't work well - I need a lot of air for my computer do to media and many tasks running at same time. This fan is by far the best one I have found for the price. It has one LARGE fan that blows on the entire computer instead of little fans that produce little to no air. And it does not make any noise - the little fans make more noise and the lights are annoying if they have them. I couldn't really care about style as I am a functional person, but this actually serves both of the purposes.
With other fans I still had abrupt shut downs and had to constantly feel bottom of laptop to ensure I wouldn't lose data to a shutdown. I have had for a couple months now and not once has my computer shutdown or gotten really hot. I would recommend this fan to all laptop users that had shutdowns due to excessive heat - and STAY AWAY from the little fans (even if they have 3 - 4). The large fan is the only way to go.
Another note - I am very hard on my equipment and use my laptop for 10 - 12 hours each day. Moving around, banging, dropping things, adding devices, programs, trying products, etc. This fan has held up to all my torture, so if you purchase you shouldn't be disappointed.
