I got the 8.5" Acer Aspire one a while back and I also got a leather case with it. After a while of use I figured the neoprene lining of my case probably didn't help with cooling and venting. I looked all over for a good fan and couldn't find any. The smallest I've seen in the stores are the small dual fan ones with the retractable sides. I tried them under my Netbook and even closed it stuck out over an inch.
Finally I found this on Amazon and figured maybe I wouldn't have to open them all the way.
When it arrived and I first turned it on I didn't even know if it was working except for a blue light that came on. It was so quiet I had to feel it to see if the fan was on and it was blowing cool are. It's narrow enough that I can zip my case closed with the fan in place under my netbook but it also fold up small enough that I can also put it in the side pocket of my case. I like this because of the adjustable arms. You can actually put it under those hot spots of the netbook. On mine it's the left side and I still have the bottom and right arms out all the way for stability and the back left arm is folded half way in and it still cools great. I can stick my fingers under my netbook and feel the cool air and the hot spots are much cooler to the touch. This was a great buy.
