I wanted to be able to put the fan where I needed it. This allows me to do that with ease. It came assembled and it was a little difficult to get it apart, but when it did it all fell apart. Then it was a little difficult to put back together. I was thinking each piece would hold together with another piece. So you could add the pieces one by one, but that is not the case. You will need a flat surface to assemble this the way you need it. But once it is together it is very sturdy. It comes with little plastic feet, some flat, some a little bubble. I wasn't quite sure how they attached or where they needed to go. There are little circles that are in the squares that they plug into. You can basically choose where and how you want to use them. This fits my 17.3 Acer Laptop with no problems. And the cooling fan seems to be working just fine.
